WHO WE ARE

We are a family run landscape construction company operating throughout East Sussex and southern Kent.

We bring more than a decade of experience in the landscape building trade. We have worked extensively in all kinds of situations, from complete garden re-designs to small changes and additions; for S. R. Avard, Ltd. no job is too large or too small.

OUR FOUNDATIONS

Sam Avard is the founder and director of S. R. Avard, Ltd. and has over ten years experience working in landscape construction. He grew up in rural Sussex with a strong attachment to nature and the outdoors; so, before heading off to the University of Sussex to obtain an honours degree in Philosophy and English, he started working for an award winning Sussex based landscape company and has been building gardens ever since.

In early 2010, Sam and his wife, Anya, moved to her home town near Los Angeles, California. After managing pool and landscape projects for a reputable outdoor construction company, he and a partner started their own successful landscape construction firm specialising in the construction of swimming pools and complete garden redesign. He designed, built and project managed dream outdoor spaces for celebrities, diplomats and local homeowners.

In 2016, with the expected arrival of their first child, Sam and Anya decided to move away from the perpetual sunshine in order to move home to raise their family in the beautiful Sussex countryside. Their first daughter, Edith was born not long after they moved back. Their second daughter, Hazel, was born in October of 2019.

Upon returning to East Sussex, Sam has been running his own landscape construction firm, subcontracting for other local businesses, and helping clients to transform their outdoor spaces.

Sam is also currently studying for his Masters in Engineering to further pursue his love of learning, building things, and to expand his professional skill set.
